For over 16 years we have been working together with Ph.D. oceanographers and marine biologists from Italian as well as International universities. The primary objective of our study is to analyse the origin and the evolution of coral reefs and to track submersed caves, which led us to the discovery of the ‘Blue Hole’, the deepest karstic hole in the Maldives and the only known in the whole Indian Ocean, very similar to the one discovered in Bahamas.

The ‘Flying Bubbles’ project is the first scuba diving medicine research run worldwide. Together with DAN Europe Research, NEOS AIR and Dive System, the mobile laboratory of DAN DSL (Diving Safety Laboratory) runs medical examinations on divers in order to research the no-fly time, the minimum pre-flight surface interval before boarding a plane. The primary goal of this research in the physiological domain is to deeply understand why nitrogen bubbles build up in divers body. For this purpose, Ph.D.s of DAN Europe Research run cardiac echographies on divers before flying, during the flight and after the flight as well as for all duration of the safari cruise.
